Core Duties & Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor the SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines, screen printers, and reflow ovens . Basically, you're the one making the circuit boards come to life.
• Component Handling: Load and replenish component feeders based on the Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring the correct parts (and polarity!) are used.
• Quality Control: Conduct in-process visual inspections (and often use automated tools like AOI - Automated Optical Inspection) to check for defects like misplaced components or poor solder joints.
• Setup and Changeover: Perform quick and accurate changeovers for different production runs, which involves loading new programs and stencils.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve machine errors or production issues to keep the line running efficiently and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Documentation: Record production data, machine performance, and document any issues.

️ Common Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: Usually requires 1-2 years of experience operating SMT or similar automated manufacturing equipment.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with electronic component identification, PCB assembly processes, and SMT equipment.
• IPC Standards: Knowledge of or certification in industry standards like IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) is a big plus.
• Attention to Detail: Absolute necessity—you're dealing with tiny, delicate components and need a sharp eye for defects.
• Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods and occasionally lift a moderate amount of weight (often up to 30 lbs).
